On Air at Groundswell: Regenerative farming practices and lowering greenhouse gas emissions
As part of our special podcast series brought to you by the School of Sustainable Food and Farming at Harper Adams University, this episode discusses the role of data, the tools available to measures GHG emissions and the value to farmers in sharing that data. Leprino Foods' Sustainability Manger Ben Williams, Farm Manager of net zero livestock farm and current Nuffield Schold Dan Smith and Livestock Sustainability Specialist at UK Agri-Tech Centre Megan Powell look at the narrative around the livestock sector when it comes to emissions, the idea of baselining, government policy and the financial incentives to drive the sector to make changes to reduce green house gas emissions on-farm.

The future of farming will be based on common sense. Not letting govts take your tax revenues to create policies that make your products unaffordable for the masses. Time for a new system, its that simple. Cut the middle parasite out of the transactions. The product is then affordable The customers gains physical health The future for both is beneficial.

Jeremy bought the farm as it is a rare commodity to come to market. The purchase was something that would only go up in value so was a no brainer. I wonder how many times Jezza cried himself to sleep when he realised that he would never be able to sell the farm and that him and his wallet were hostages to a cause he had stumbled into. Fight the good fight Jeremy

Clarkson is a country hero.... showing us ignorant city folk just how hard and complicated farming really is and making it hysterically entertaining as he's learning the ropes as well as revealing the ridiculous amount of red-tape hurdles the government puts in their way.

Clarkson made theeee best decision when keeping Kaleb on the farm for the show. You hear him talking in interviews about looking for someone to be on the show as a tractor driver who has good tv presence and at the end just decided that the best thing to do is to show a real human farmer on TV who's already doing the job. It's great, it's genuine and despite Kalebs lack of knowledge of the wider world he absolutely knows his shit about farming. He is a great example of next generation farming, is relatable to a younger generation, respected by his farming colleagues and has a great personality when interacting on screen with Jeremy. You just can't ask for a better offsider to be on this show.

This is a great discussion well done FG for facilitating this we need more balanced discussion. Having worked in both access and agriculture my thoughts are that a reform of the highways, CroW, marine Acts are needed. Aiming to allow for more responsible and responsive (ability to change) access networks. 'Responsibly' can be seen written in current law in coastal access i.e. the walker is responsible for their own safety with all liabilities (excepting negligence) removed from the farmer. To me this is a more balanced solution and a theme that could be developed in reform of access laws.

It is a great team. People like Kaleb who genuinely know what they are doing, and Jeremy using his high profile to highlight the issues all farmers face. It is great to see him using his position for the greater good, and giving Kaleb a platform to say what really happens, and what needs to change, to benefit all farmers.

Well done team. Your exactly right. Government need to get out of the way of Farmers. The global Marxist agenda of World Economic forum for us the own nothing and rent everything requires them to have control of all privately owned property and supply of food, energy and every aspect of your life. We must reject all attempts from Government to carry out this attached on our lives under WEF instruction.

Don't you love it when you hear a person who takes pride and doesn't just go through the motions with their job the knowledge you and your dad have on farming is refreshing just listening to you speaking on grass amazing the average person would think all you do is open gates for the cows but your definitely scientists, do you remember the misconceptions about farmers just being dead head labourers, keep up the good work and hope everything goes well for you, your family, employees and the farm 🚜

To be honest I've found that these smaller handlers are better suited to gardeners or estate use. they are an extremely rough ride and it's awful but we changed the wheels on ours and put floatation tyres on and my god it made the world of difference. It made the ride smoother and softer no wheel spin at all on gravel or dirty concrete where as when it had ag tyres on the traction was terrible it's really improved it all around having the float tyres on but I'd still say it's more suited to estate work over farm yard work for sure.
